About US

Senior Scholars, founded in 1973, is an organization for seniors and retirees where members meet weekly to hear a prominent speaker on interesting and diverse topics.  Don’t let the “Scholars” title scare you.  An academic degree is not required, only an interest in future learning.

Senior Scholars welcomes Retirees to a New Learning Experience!  Some people think that retirement is empty time, like being in “heaven’s waiting room.”  In Charlotte, senior citizens are known for their vitality, love of learning and desire to give back to their community.  This is an organization that offers welcoming fellowship and wonderful opportunities to broaden your intellectual perspective and improve your understanding of international, national and local issues and subjects of interest.

                Members & Visitors

Visitors may attend several meetings free of charge.  Memberships are $10.00 per year and benefits include our weekly speaker programs, a monthly Newsletter, and the opportunity, each May to attend a low-cost three-day study retreat in the North Carolina Mountains along with other members.

Getting Involved: Senior Scholars meets weekly, except for July, August and the last three weeks in December.  Prospective members should attend the next scheduled meeting where they can get more information.  Our e-mail address is SScholars@Yahoo.com.
